Our Volunteers Make It All Possible

You don't have to "swing a hammer" to help at Habitat for Humanity of Burke County. All we ask is that you have willing hands and a loving heart. Our volunteers come from all walks of life and many are new to construction and retail sales.

Our volunteers are diverse! You may work alongside retired surgeons who hang sheetrock, families spending a Saturday painting interiors, church groups learning to install siding, teens digging community gardens.

If you have a skill you'd like to learn or a skill to share come volunteer with us at Habitat for Humanity of Burke County. Don't think it is too hard or that you don't have the right skills, there is a special place just for you.

RESTORE VOLUNTEERS
We have a space for all types of volunteers. Some of our opportunities are listed; however, feel free to offer your special skill. Volunteers are folks stocking our shelves, people unloading trucks, greeters to our customers, people who assemble new items and repair furniture or help pick up donations.

Our ReStore volunteers truly make it all possible. Volunteers allow Habitat for Humanity to operate our Habitat ReStore of Burke County with low overhead.

WEDNESDAY WARRIORS
Our Wednesday Warriors are from all walks of life, skilled and unskilled. Licensed, general contractor Stewart McKee is on site to lead volunteers. No skill? No worries, we will teach you. Volunteers typically work March thru October on Wednesdays.

Do you want to join the Wednesday Warrior team? Great! Please call our office at 828-437-0370 or send an email to mblack@burkehabitat.org for more information.

SATURDAY WORK CREWS
The bulk of our construction crews work on Saturdays March thru October. Churches, civic groups and dedicated individuals work under the supervision of our licensed, general contractor in all aspects of the construction process. As a part of the work crew you can have a hand in framing, painting, installing siding and so much more. Habitat for Humanity volunteers bring the enthusiasm and energy that allows us to quickly build homes because everyone deserves to have a decent and affordable place to live.

Please call the office for locations and times. Organize a group and bring your friends for a day you'll never forget! Call 828-437-0370 or email mblack@burkehabitat.org for more information.
